10 Weeks!

"It's just my normal fat belly... it's not like I'm showing at all!"

"I still think you're beautiful."

The telling begins...

We took the trek to Binghamton this weekend to let my father know about being pregnant. He was quite happy with the news. Seemingly the family has extrasensory perception as the family decided to descend upon my father's house around the same time. We were pretty much made to call all those who didn't show up.

I think Tanya Plans on filling in the rest of her family next week and then going public with everyone during the Memorial Day weekend.

Here's a picture of Grampa checking out the sonogram.

My how you've grown.

We had our two week follow up yesterday after our scare and everything continues to look good.

We stopped by the book store to get a book of Irish baby names and Tanya picked up "The Belly Book", a pregnancy journal (lets see if she's more apt to fill that out than this blog).

We experienced about a month of pretty good health, albeit with consistent exhaustion. Now it looks like Tanya's getting sick again.

Mother's Day

So Tanya had her first Mother's Day... a cute and kind of novel idea for an expectant mother. Next year I'll have to go out and get flowers and a gift "from baby." Anyway, I took her out to lunch and drove her to work and picked her up (which is a big deal for her as she doesn't have to worry about parking and walking).

We have a doctors appointment on Wednesday with another sonogram. We are, at this point, only a few weeks away from making our news common knowledge! We plan to tell my father soon and then "come out" to all our friends at the big memorial day bash in 3 weeks.

The next great plan is to get Tanya to write something here. I suppose that once she's through the woods of the first trimester she will be able to relax, take a sigh of relief and really let the reality of the situation set in. She's experiencing all the changes now, and that's her way of being close to the situation. These writings, in a manner of speaking, are the closest I have to a visual metamorphosis into fatherhood.

Back after a long weekend

Tanya and I took a long weekend this week and camped up at Suttershire in our new 5th wheel. Tanya also took this opportunity to tell her Mom that she was pregnant. Somewhere around the beginning of June we will start to tell everyone.

We stopped at Burger King on the way up and Tanya left her drink in the cup holder (Baby brain?). It leaked all in the cup holder and I put my iPhone in it. My phone no longer works, and it tripped the moisture sensor so it won't be covered under warranty... looks like I have to go buy a new one!

Tanya was put on an antibiotic by the OB doc and now it's causing some pretty uncomfortable side effects. She made me go into the grocery store and buy her some over the counter cream from the ladies "intimate care" section. Oh... what a joy!
